INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OFFICE (IRO) HOLDS FIRST END OF YEAR MEETING WITH INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION (ISA)

The IRO as part of their mandate to coordinate the welfare of international students organized their maiden end of year meeting with the international students. The event took place on Sunday, 19th December, 2021, at the Tyco City Hotel.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako who graced the occasion with his presence congratulated all graduated students and advised that they sell UENR to their friends and families in their home countries. He also advised continuing students to take their studies seriously to enable them come out successfully like their friends have.

Prof. Amos T. Kabo-Bah, Acting Dean of the International Relations Office in his remarks stated that the Office planned the event to have interactions about activities of the past year, make merry, celebrate graduated students, handover and swear in new executives for the International Students’ Association (ISA). He congratulated graduated students and emphasized that they are still part of the University and looks up to them to sell the University to other students in their home countries. He advised the continuing students with his personal experiences and as once an international student. He encouraged them to make their studies their highest priority.

The Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Patron of ISA, Prof. Adebayo Felix Adekoya expressed his satisfaction at the performance of the just graduated students and encouraged the continuing students not to take their studies for granted in other to have a victorious completion.

The outgoing president of ISA, Mr. Moustafa Acakpo, in his handing over speech expressed his profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, the Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor and the Acting Dean and staff of the International Relations Office for their assistance and advise during the past year. He urged the incoming executives to put in their all to make ISA a great association on UENR campus.

The new executives were sworn into office, after which Ms. Stephanie Solal Djimtoingar, the president elect, gave her acceptance speech. She assured the international student body that her team will continue from where the outing team ended to make ISA great. She added that she and her other executives will work hand in hand with the IRO.
