International Relations Office Engages International Partners in Geneva, Switzerland

The Dean of the International Relations Office, Prof. Amos T. Kabo-bah has engaged International Partners in Geneva, Switzerland to discuss possible areas of collaboration in which the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) could leverage on for mutual benefits.

The Dean embarked on this engagement when he attended the 26th Programme Meeting for GEO in Geneva, Switzerland from June 15 to 16, 2023. The Meeting discussed the global development of the new Post 2025 GEO Strategy for the next 10 years. The event which attracted various international students and other partners afforded Prof. Kabo-bah the opportunity in improving the visibility of UENR. He used the occasion to engage prospective partners from the Pacific Island States and Latin America on the Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) Postgraduate Programme which will start in September 2023 at UENR.

Prof. Kabo-bah had earlier on; June 12 to 14, 2023, had a series of meetings with the Management of the GEO Secretariat to extensively discussed the future financing mechanisms in increasing scholarship schemes within the next five (5) years regarding the LDN Postgraduate Programme at UENR.

In a related development, the staff of the International Relations Office led by the Dean on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, paid a courtesy call on the Bono Regional Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS). The visit was the first official meeting between the GIS and the IRO since its inception.

The visit offered the opportunity for the two parties to discuss Office space for the GIS staff on UENR Campus to facilitate the processing of students’ residence permits as well as rendering of other services to the University Community.

The Bono Regional Commander, A.C.I Samuel Amadu Basintale assured their readiness in providing the needed assistance to the International Relations Office.

The Dean on his part expressed appreciation to the Commander and called on his team to visit UENR and educate staff on some key immigration issues to help prepare their visa interviews, and trips abroad, amongst others. It is expected that the IRO in collaboration with the GIS will soon organise a workshop to that effect.
